Google Maps Logo Redesign – What Do You Think?

Google maps just turned 15! To celebrate this milestone Google not only launched new and improved maps features but also decided to undergo a facelift. The updated features and brand new Google Maps logo were pushed across Android and iOS apps yesterday. With more than 1 billion users turning to Google Maps this change is a big deal. At GraphicSprings we are passionate about branding. A rebrand of this scale had us curious as to what the initial reactions where from users. Do people love the new Google Maps logo (featured on the left in the image below)? Do they hate it or just don't care? We conducted a survey and here are the results:

What do you think of the new Google Maps logo?

By GraphicSprings.com

Survey Results:

I love it: 17.3% - 173 votes

I like it: 46.9% - 469

I don't care: 7.7% - 77 votes

I prefer the old one: 16.1% - 161 votes

I hate it: 12% - 120 votes

Our survey was conducted using Google surveys. The responses were gathered February 6th and 7th 2020. The respondents were all located in the US with an age range of 18 to 65. We gathered feedback from 1,000 respondents and gave them five options to express their opinion on the redesign. The answers based by percentage and number of votes are reflected above. The qualifying question was whether they use Google Maps or not.
